Survey: How we can serve the community

At the recent steering committee meeting the volunteers involved agreed that a survey, which would give us some insight into what are the needs and wishes of Yarker and district inhabitants, should be performed. At the next steering committee meeting we will discuss what questions should be included in the Survey and how to organize this enterprise.

Thanks to participants of the first Community meeting, we have already gathered some data about Yarker inhabitants vision of Association role:

- 19 persons declared interest in Community Events and Festivals
- 16 persons declared interest in Heritage
- 10 persons declared interest in Arts
- 6 persons declared interest in Sports and Recreation
- 5 persons declared interest in Activities for Youth and Children
- 4 persons declared interest in Ecology (Friends of Napanee River)
- 2 persons declared interest in Beautification and Restoration of the Village

Additionally, one of the volunteers came out with the proposition of creating a Community Bulletin Board.

Two projects were brought into discussion at the steering committee meeting: possibility of creating a Walkway to the Yarker Falls and the installation of the Yarker Bell and the Grist Stone.

If you would like to help, either by suggesting the suitable areas to survey, or by participating as a volunteer, please contact us at: yarker.community@gmail.com.
